Friends, this Summer marks the end of Spring Semester at Michigan Tech. With that being said, it only makes sense for us to briefly recap the plethora of events and opportunities REAC was a part of this past Spring.
For starters, we had many new faces at our REAC meetings and I would personally like to thank each and every one of you, new and well-seasoned, that came out to see what we are all about. We had very impressive turnouts at a majority of our meetings, and it makes me very excited to see that our club is becoming more visible on campus, thanks to the efforts of our members.
Because we moved Rail Day Expo and Rail Night into the (less snowy) Fall Semester this past year, I will not go much further than to say, it was a great success and we look forward to doing it again October 20th, 2015! On the other hand, we did have Rail Info Night this Spring, offering members a great opportunity to meet and hear from folks who live and breathe the rail industry. We had a very large pool of representatives from several rail-related companies.
During one of our last meetings, we voted in our new officers Aaron Dean and Nick Karch. To learn more about them, head here. Congrats fellas! If you are interested in an officer position, feel free to contact one of us to learn more about it, then come next Spring, you too can run for a position.
If you joined us on our trip to Omaha, you know how much fun we had and all the great things we experienced. From the yard tours to the dinner train, the jaw-dropping UP headquarters and the astonishing Harriman Center, Union Pacific really went out of their way to show REAC what their company is all about. A huge thanks is in order for all who took part in the planning and coordination of the trip. If you missed our Omaha trip don't panic... We will be going on another great trip next Spring, so stay tuned for more details! I will be receiving a Union Pacific newsletter featuring REAC in a couple weeks. If you would like a copy, please send me an email. Also, if you didn't see the pictures from the trip, click here.
Well friends, that about wraps it up. Although we did plenty more over the course of the Spring, I feel that is a good summary. I look forward to seeing you all again this Fall to begin another year at Tech and another year with the Railroad Engineering and Activities Club!
