Just in case you may have missed our emails, the sign up for the Escanaba trip is now available. Here's the trip itinerary:
We will be touring both E&LS and CN Rail facilities this weekend, Saturday, April 6th, in Escanaba. If you are interested please fill out the attached form and give a $20 deposit to Pam Hannon by noon on Friday (April 5) to reserve your spot. The deposit will be refunded when you arrive Saturday morning. If you have steel toe boots please bring them or PPE will be provided.
The current plan would be to leave from Houghton around 7 a.m. and be done with E&LS around 11:30 a.m. E&LS currently has many projects going on in their shop so there is a lot to see! Last time we visited CN, we brought some pizzas and ate lunch (CN folks are welcome to eat with us as well), while the supervisor talked a bit about their operations.
After lunch we looked at the rotary dump, ore dock, car repair shop, visited locomotive cab and looked at some yard features. We should be on the road back around 2 p.m.
Need to know by Wednesday, April 2nd by 5pm (Today!). But don't worry about turning in the deposit before then. The deadline for the deposit is Thursday afternoon at 5pm.
If you want to go just sign up on the spreadsheet and show up on
Saturday. This is a great opportunity to take a few hours and learn a
lot about the railroad industry. Plus its FREE and includes lunch!
It is hard to beat that! As you can see you would be home by 6pm and
still have plenty of time to enjoy the evening. I hope to see you guys
on the list!
